Money has a lot going for it. It fits every size, colour and taste, you don’t need to keep the receipt, and very rarely does anyone say Oh. I’ve already got one of those. There’s just one problem. Handed over in a plain envelope, it can look slightly less like a present and slightly more like you’re settling an overdue invoice.
So we’re making an envelope that decided to become a gift.
A piece of cardboard, four circles and a little glue turn into packaging that looks considerably more impressive than the level of difficulty would suggest. Put the banknotes inside, close it up and you’re done.
Now for the hardest part – deciding how much.

Financial education has two stages.
First, Mum keeps the money from the envelope safe.
Then comes a sudden reform of property rights. The owner takes control of the assets, opens envelopes immediately and occasionally counts the contents in front of witnesses. Discretion loses to accounting.
